This delectable Georgian country house enjoys an idyllic setting in an 11-acre valley of pasture, woodlands and gardens just outside Meridith, one of Cornwall's oldest villages. Here, Chris and Veronica Brown and their exceptionally friendly and helpful staff (many of whom have been here for years) make it a priority to go that extra mile for their guests. Everyone is made to feel especially welcome, from families keen to explore the Cornish coast and garden enthusiasts heading for the Eden Project to couples in search of a quiet romantic break. Holden-in-Vale has a special charm in all seasons. In summer, the heated pool is a fabulous sun trap surrounded by lawns and flowerbeds. There's croquet, badminton and lovely walks.
